In October the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar Revenues and Benefits Team, which is one of my services, achieved highly commended in the IRRV awards.
We were honoured alongside the UK’s leading local authorities at the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation Awards 2015, held in Telford, Wednesday 7 October 2015.
The National IRRV Performance Awards are the benchmark by which excellence and progress in public sector revenue collection and benefits administration is measured.
The Comhairle achieved Highly Commended in the category of Most Improved Team of the Year.
Over the past 4 years the CnES Revenues and Benefits team have improved performance across the board from a relatively lowly position. The team has delivered better outcomes for customers, reduced processing times, increased money collected and reduced the number of staff across all levels in the team.
Along the path to sustained improvement the team has risen to the challenges faced when delivering welfare reform taking on new work with limited impact on performance.
In making the award, the judging panel recognised the significant achievement of the team across all parts of the service.
The format of the IRRV award ceremony doesn’t give the chance for winners to make a speech. So I wasn’t able to thrill them with one of my poems this time!!
